My mind reflected back to the time when I first learned what the word “melting pot” represents in eighth grade while I was reading this article. In my meager memory, the passage that I read says America is like a big salad bowl, mixing various races from different places all over the world. In this article, I learned that eugenics is the belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population. It was quite interesting but upset at the same time to know that people actually believed in this kind of prejudiced idea. I couldn’t agree more with Downes when he says “Who condemn “illegals” but refuse to let anyone become legal.” This problem also exists in Taiwan . Brides from Vietnam , worker from Philippines and helpers Indonesia all have trouble to get identification cards in Taiwan . Some of them worked in Taiwan for seven or more years before finally getting identification cards, before finally being treated as a citizen of Taiwan . As time passes, our society also changes. Cultures are mixing and people are more connected due to the advance technology. Not only the United States , but the whole world is becoming one big melting pot as well!
I can't agree more with "the whole world is becoming one big melting pot as well". This shows that everybody around the world are all equal. Even though I know that not everybody agrees with me but I think, in order to let our future to be much brighter. We should combine all of our knowledge to succeed.
